At the McDonald’s in Lemoyne, PA, the cracks weren’t confined to parking spaces. They crossed the customer pickup area, the drive-through approach, and the marked exit. RDS Paving & Sealcoating completed the crack sealing here at night.
The customer, referred to us by one of our vendors, owns 10 McDonald’s locations throughout the region and asked about crack sealing at each property.
From Customer Pickup to the Exit
Near the signed pickup area, we sealed long, winding cracks that branched and crossed one another. Other sealed cracks ran through the vehicle area and along the drive-through approach beside the restaurant.
At the marked exit, sealed cracks crossed painted directional markings and extended toward the road. Other lines ran through the main driving area near curbed islands and traffic arrows. The Federal Highway Administration’s guidance on business access identifies convenient entry, exit, and on-site circulation as important to fast-food properties. These were among the parts of the existing pavement addressed by the Lemoyne work.
The crack sealing also extended through parking rows at different parts of the property. Along the fenced perimeter, treated cracks crossed marked stalls and passed near a drainage grate. Nearer the building, additional sealed lines crossed spaces beside marked access areas.
Making Night Work Fit the Restaurant’s Hours
Those paved areas are used by customers arriving by car or on foot, employees coming and going, and deliveries reaching the restaurant. Peak business hours also matter when choosing a time for maintenance.
Our goal was to complete the crack sealing with as little interference as possible to normal operations. We performed the Lemoyne work at night, taking the restaurant’s business hours into account rather than assuming a regular daytime schedule would suit the property.
The request covered 10 McDonald’s locations, so scheduling was not just about Lemoyne.
Traffic patterns, operating conditions, and access needs may vary between restaurants. The wider request called for considering when each location could accommodate a crew while limiting unnecessary travel and mobilization.
Each property still needed individual attention, and communication was another important part of planning around daily operations.
The customer was impressed by how we worked around their business hours and was very pleased with the completed crack sealing at Lemoyne.
