Two large cracks ran across this residential driveway in Enola, PA, and the asphalt around them had clearly lost its fresh, uniform appearance. The homeowner wanted those cracks filled before they could create more trouble, then wanted the worn surface sealed for a cleaner finish and added protection.

That made this a straightforward maintenance project with a visible before-and-after payoff. We focused on preparation first, repaired the problem areas, and finished with a brush-applied sealcoat that gave the asphalt driveway a renewed appearance.

A Friend’s Recommendation Led Us to the Driveway

The homeowner came to RDS Paving & Sealcoating through a recommendation from a friend. When we looked at the driveway, the key concerns were easy to identify: the asphalt was worn, and two large cracks crossed the surface.

Cracks can keep opening and allow moisture and debris into the pavement, so we addressed them before sealcoating. Our pavement maintenance services include both crack sealing and sealcoating, and we plan this work with Central Pennsylvania conditions in mind.

“In Enola, we turned a worn, cracked driveway into a cleaner, protected surface with targeted repair and sealcoating.”

Cleaning First, Then Tackling the Cracks

Good adhesion starts with a clean surface. Before applying repair material or sealer, we cleaned the driveway so both products could bond properly to the existing asphalt.

Once the surface was ready, we moved to the two large cracks. We filled them with hot rubberized crack filler, creating a sealed repair intended to help keep the damaged areas from spreading and causing additional pavement deterioration.

That step mattered.

Applying sealer over open cracks would leave the main trouble spots unresolved. By handling the cracks first, we could move into the finishing stage with the damaged areas already treated.

Finishing the Surface With Brush-Applied Sealer

After the crack filling was complete, we applied sealer across the driveway using brushes. The goal was twofold: give the worn asphalt a refreshed finish and add protection against rain and debris.

The completed surface looked darker, cleaner, and more consistent, while the repaired crack lines were sealed rather than left exposed. For a residential driveway that sits front and center at the property, that visual improvement makes a noticeable difference.

RDS Paving & Sealcoating serves Enola and other Central Pennsylvania communities with asphalt paving, repair, and maintenance services. This project is a good example of how focused maintenance can address existing wear without turning a manageable driveway issue into a larger repair need.

A Result the Homeowner Loved

The homeowner’s reaction summed up the project well: “Thanks we love our new driveway!”

We were glad to deliver a finish that addressed the cracks and improved the overall appearance of the asphalt. The work had a clear sequence, a practical purpose, and a result the client could see as soon as the driveway was finished.
