These Lancaster, PA homeowners found RDS Paving & Sealcoating online after reading our reviews. Their existing asphalt driveway was deteriorating, and they were considering more than a straightforward replacement. They wanted to discuss widening the driveway along with other possible changes to the layout.
Before any pavement came out, we worked through those ideas with them and defined the scope of the driveway project.
Working Through the Driveway Options First
The homeowners knew the existing driveway needed to be replaced, but they also had several possible improvements in mind. Those discussions included widening the driveway, adding an extension, and potentially creating a circular driveway toward the front of the property.
We evaluated the existing pavement, talked through their ideas, answered questions, and explained what would be involved in the replacement work.
Because this project involved possible changes beyond replacing the existing asphalt, those conversations happened before excavation began. We worked with the homeowners to move from several ideas for the property to a defined driveway replacement scope.
The Replacement Started Below the New Asphalt
Once the project moved into construction, we excavated the existing driveway material.
With the old pavement removed, we prepared the base before installing the new asphalt. That part of the work disappears from view once paving is complete, but the pavement structure depends on the support underneath it. Preparing the base was therefore part of rebuilding the driveway, not simply a step before the finished surface went down.
After preparation was complete, we installed the new asphalt and finished the project with cleanup around the work area.
The completed driveway has a continuous asphalt surface running from the roadway toward the home and garage, with a broad paved area near the garage. While the new asphalt is the most visible part of the finished project, reaching that point required the earlier excavation and preparation work first.
The Review Was Already Decided
After the driveway was complete, we asked the homeowners if they would share their experience.
Their response was:
“Thank you for requesting us to leave a review, but we had already decided you deserve the great reviews.”
They also described the experience as professional and efficient.
That response connected directly to how the project began. The homeowners originally found RDS Paving & Sealcoating after reading reviews from previous customers. By the time their own Lancaster driveway project was finished, they had already decided to leave positive feedback before we asked.
From the first discussions about the deteriorating driveway through excavation, preparation, paving, and final cleanup, the project moved from several possible ideas to a completed asphalt driveway and a homeowner response we were glad to receive.
